DarkPlaces - laggy

Well,I know my PC is not all that good,here it is some of it aspects:

256mb RAM;
AMD Athlon XP 1800+
1.49ghz
Windows XP;
GeForce 4 MX.

Now tell me: If my PC doesn't seens to suport it in high quality,what should I do to reduce the lag a bit? Well,the lag don't stay the whole game,just when some lights apears,like the roket launcher,grenade launcher explosions.

You should look into getting more ram simply for the sake that youre running XP.

My own machine is 1.4ghz Athlon XP somethingsomethingnumber with 512megs of ddr 266mhz ram, and a geforce4ti4200 64meg

for running something like DarkPlaces within Windows XP, youre already biting deep into your ram - its something you will want to upgrade soon anyways, even just an additional 512 stick will help. that and... dont bother with anything that says mx or fx in the future =)

if youre interested in upgrading your videocard im sure LordHavoc can recommend something good in your price range, my card with 128megs of ram runs around 75$ in general, which if you have a job is something one can save up to fairly easily.

Well,my father will give plus 500 RAM soon. I'm just waiting for it. And yes,those fx and mx are a crap. Maybe I should change it with my saved money.

Honestly, the age didnt affect it. The ti4200 was better all around than the FX when the FX was new. I cant afford to upgrade now, but Im glad I didnt then, as it would not have been to my advantage.
