  • Recording/Playing Demos on Qrack

I wanna record demos of my games that I play on Qrack and play them back later. How do I do that?

Also, as you know, Quake and its Mission Packs come with 2 or 3 demos each that play on their own when you're not playing. But Qrack doesn't play them (at least not automatically). In Qrack's main-menu > Demos, I've tried to browse for them, but none show up anywhere in any of my fldrs in my Quake fldr. How can I get them to play?

    Thanks.

    to record a demo type
    Code:
    record [demoname] [map] [cdtrack]
    in console.

to record after the game already started type (this only works in proquake, joequake, qrack and probably darkplaces)
    Code:
    record [demoname]
    to play a demo type
    Code:
    playdemo [demoname]
the demos that play on startup are not listed in the demos menu because they are in .pak files. those are named demo1, demo2 and demo3 for dissolution and hipdemo1, hipdemo2, hipdemo3 and hipdemo4 for scourge.

Doesn't work in DarkPlaces. LordHavoc thinks that it's very likely a technical impossibility. He said that it would be easier to record everyhing that has happened upto that point instead, and just carry on recording from there.

The demos Quake comes with are in the pak0 in id1, other mission pack demos are in the pak files as well. Use pakscape or pakexplorer to take them out, then browse to them with demo menu in joequake or qrack.

In both joequake and qrack, just typing "record" by itself starts recording a demo from that point on, named by map name and time/date.

In qrack cl_autodemo 1 starts recording a demo named by map name and time/date at the beginning of every game (never miss a nice airshot )

I believe you can make it work if you type this in the console:

          startdemos demo1 demo2 demo3

Qrack doesn't have that in quake.rc, but it is normally there.

how can it be impossible if it's already been done?
