  • Darkplaces Newbie question

Apologies if this has been answered before but I couldn't spot it anywhere. I'm just experimenting with Darkplaces and although I can play single player fine, when I come to play a demo, which works fine and dancy in Qrack/Joe/ proquake/etc I get all of the HUD and weapons fire but nothing else. i.e. rockets, explosions etc shooting through a black screen. No scenery, players, gibs, etc.

Any constructive ideas would be gratefully received.

    Kind regards

    Monty

That sounds like Darkplaces is not finding the map (meaning it is not seeing it in id1/maps or modyoureusing/maps). It does the same thing if you connect to a server when you dont have the map, as opposed to just giving an error.

I know when you record a demo in DP you cant watch it in other engines - however DP does play non DP demos as well (this is apparent because it still plays the id demos for e1m3, e1m4, e1m6).

Cheers CS. Now got the map dl'd to one of my VT production machines and I've now got it running but I'm damned if I can find the built in 'export to video' option refered to in the Capturing a Demo thread in the media section. Being a DP newbie isn't helping and so if this series of demos can be ported to Qrack, and I get no answer on doing this through DP are you happy for a Qrack version? If not, one option might be to use Fraps but I can't give any guarantees as to the quality of the the finished product.

        Kind regards

I tried Fraps but I couldn't get it to record more than 60 seconds

Hey, if DP is giving you problems just use Qrack. A demo is a demo
