So, I ran some timedemo test of demo1 with my glpro client and it seems that my framerate is capped at 280 FPS. I ran this timedemo for 640x480, 800x600, and 1024*768, and they all reproduced the same results. Running this with the glquake.exe client, I can get 922 FPS in 640x480. Any thoughts on why this is happening? I played around with pq_maxfps, and this has no effect.

That has to be the explanation.
You might also consider trying Qrack (vid_sync 0) or DarkPlaces (vid sync off by default), both have the capability to disable sync within the client.Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages.
