  • wqpro problems with CAx

so a freind of miine is trying to up is FPS in wqpro. I told him to use -nowindirect -nodirectdraw in the command line. After doing this he now crashes out of CAx servers.

    -nowindirect

    Game: WinQuake

    Type: Parameter

Description: Disable support for VESA video modes in favor of DirectX DirectDraw video modes.
    -nodirectdraw

    Game: WinQuake

    Type: Parameter

Description: Disable DirectX DirectDraw video modes.
No clue what those do, but according to the description (Reference) it looks like they do the opposite things I'd not use both of those together.

Yah, i'm not sure how those work exactly. I know that when i used to run winquake I used both. In any event if he's just using one, for example -nodirectdraw, he will still crash on a CAx server, usually after a match has ended. He has no problems on a crmod server.

The mod itself doesnt use those commands nor does it switch video modes or make calls to any video functions. I really dont see how it would work, and then, crash after end of match. I'll try to reproduce this crash, and see what the conflict is... but i'm almost certain it would be a driver issue.

Yah, i'm not sure why it would work on the crmod server, and yet crash on the CAx server. I loaded up my wqpro and used the both nowindirect and nodirectdraw, and had no problems on rage. It's a very perplexing problem.

I asked him if he had the latest drivers for his video card, and he said he did. I'll try and figure out what card and drivers he's using.
