  • DarkPlaces is Choppy?

So I decided to give Darkplaces a try at Monster's recomendation to get rid of some blurring effect on Qrack on my new LCD monitor.

DarkPlaces plays smooth on single player but once I connect to a internet game it starts chopping imediatly as if i an getting major packet loss? the chopping is consistent... anything that might cause this?

Doesn't happen with me. you're probably using an old version... theres an old command, cl_nettimesyncmode that you can set to 1. This usually eliminates the choppiness.

Download the latest beta though, it has some new stuff and you won't have to keep setting that cl_nettimesyncmode:

hmm... I messed with the game brightness, gamma, and brightenss controls. no crashing here. Were you using the latest stable version?? If not, download that one. If you are using the latest stable one, try cl_nettimesyncmode 1 in the console when connected to a server.

Blurriness on LCD monitors are because of the monitor's response time, thre isnt a TRUE refreshrate for LCDs but even so screen updates are less than CRT, so its less stable image. (unless u have gl_beergoggles 1 set in qrack )

For NetQuake games make sure cl_movement is set to 0. or also what peg said...

cl_nettimesyncmode 1 fixes it. It's the way darkplaces handles packets by default, use cl_nettimesyncmode 1 and you'll be fine.

What os? DP has trouble on Vista apparently, like anything else made with code and a compiler.
