  • Playing Q3 maps in darkplaces

    Hi, I don't know how many of you have read the discussion at Func_msgboard about playing Q3 maps in darkplaces with dmsp mod. After reading it, I gave it a try. But instead of using dmsp mod, I used dpmod's deathmatch 7.

    And guess what, it runs very OK! The teleport is working, the jumping pad is working, and the gameplay, with all the monsters cramped in the arena, is insane!

    Anyone who hasn't tried this should give it a try now!

      You need three things.
      darkplaces engine
      dpmod
      q3ademo (get it from here: ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/qua...32/q3ademo.exe ;if you have got the full game, that's even better)

      edit: OK, you need four things actually. You certainly need quake.

      First install q3ademo. Then you copy the pak0.pk3 file from demoq3 into the dpmod folder.

      start darkplaces like this:
      darkplaces.exe +gamedir dpmod +deathmatch 7 +sv_cheats 1 +map q3dm17
      Here the q3dm17 can be replaced by q3dm1, q3dm7, q3tourney2 (these are the four q3 maps included in the q3ademo).

      Be warned though, the environmental traps in these maps, such as toxic fog, pit, etc are not working properly. And some shaders are not displayed correctly. Only rocket launcher and lightning gun would appear. And sometimes the monsters are invulnerable to your gunshots! I don't know why.
