  • CA / DM Players QRack

    Hey guys,

    I've noticed a lot of people are trying QRack and giving up on it after a few minutes. I personally feel that QRack is the best CA / DM / TDM client available.

    I've gotten a lot of questions about my qrack settings and configuration, so I'm going to be compiling my qrack settings and configuration into a zip file. What it will end up being is an entire quake directory that can be used for new players as well.

    I'll post some screenshots later, but keep in mind I have a performance based set up. It's not going to be pretty, and will look a lot like GLPro with my quakeworld customized textures.

    Let me know if there is any interest. I'll also include my quad time bind (read: not timer, it's still manual).

    Cat where you going to be uploading? Because they won't let you advertise Quake for free here. The manual q time bind is nice by the way

        Here's a pic of DM3 using a custom particlefont, crosshair and hud icons.

        EDIT: I have no idea what the zeros are underneath the gameclock in the top right hand corner, they only showed up when I did /map dm3 and are normally not there on servers. r00k?

          I'm intrested Cataklysque!

          Lemme know when and where you upload them, I've been looking for a better weapon switch bind since I'm still using the archaic "Press 1 button for RL and another for LG, another for GL" ect... Hopefully theres something like this that you are offering If not i'm sure theres alot of goodies your config has to offer still!

          Your pic looks great and is very relative to what my Qrack looks like (I turn off most eyecandy except for smooth models) I'm curious what the blue light is in your pic however, care to explain?

          Even though I play DM probably once every month or so I know you are an avid DM'er and DM is where true skills of adaptation come in, us CA noobies have alot to benefit from playing DM & even RA more! Although most top tier CA players are already wellrounded.

                  I believe that is controlled by the variable scr_printstats, cat; set that to 0 and it should go away.

                    that pic was obviously taken while on the map locally, as one of the zeros is monsters killed and the other zero is secrets found

                      I love qrack. My favorite features are the transparent HUD, and the ability to independentally adjust the console text size and the console resolution size.

                      I went with more of a classic look with my HUD textures, and I also kept all of the particles in the classic quake style. I'm able to get the same FPS in qrack with this setup as I do in GLpro.
