I tried it. Cant get the browser list to work. SPF is set to allow Quake access to the net. SPF detected the change in Quake and I allowed the new version access to the net as well. However the server browser is still not reading anything, gives the 'firewall or internet issue, see quakeone' etc. I've tried shutting Quake down and restarting it. Still the browser doesn't work.

I can connect to shmack using the standard method, but the browser list is still baffled.

Alright, sorry Baker. I saw that. However, SPF gives me no notification of any 'mapget' trying to access the internet. I'll check its settings see what I can come up with.

No listing for mapget in the app lists on SPF.

I've tried it again. No notification from SPF for mapget trying to access the net. I've even switched to SPF current running app list while glpro was trying to get the server list to see if it listed 'mapget' in its list. No go. I'll now try it with SPF turned off. I'm doing this step by step to be as specific as possible in what's happening.

If you need more help, let me know.

This should be pretty straight forward.

You can click start->run->"c:\quake\mapget.exe" test ... it will check for internet availability and should trigger an SPF dialog box.

Alright, still nothing with SPF turned off. It occured to me it could be a router issue but its most likely not since SPF didnt even list it as a currently or recently running app. I'll check through this thread again and check out the readme to make sure I unzipped everything into the right directory.

Hold off until the next version. I'll create some sort of console command to test the setup so someone like yourself that has some sort of difficult to determine problem can figure out why.

ok nothing happened. My directory is different for Quake. It's "c:\program files\games\quake\mapget.exe". I dont know if that matters.

Trying to active the mapget.exe directly also produces no response. Might be bad download.

i think this version lags alot.

                        i get spikes like 50-250.

                        Darkplaces is pretty stable

Fix your computer. The other day you were complaining about DarkPlaces being laggy as hell playing SmashQuake at Whitehot.

Engines with standard GLQuake graphical effects cannot have spikes, unless you did something like pq_maxfps 99999.

hm yea ive been having weird darkplaces problems but theyre fixed with the latest version

i got pq_maxfps 250, i'll try lowering it if it lags today again.

nice job by the way, the server browser works great. how does it get the server list? do you have to add more servers to make them show up? like the new server roots.quakeone.com

The server browser pulls straight off the QuakeOne server page. So any server listed here will be in the server browser, except it will not display servers that are down.

Yeah, I cheated but it works!

/ProQuake should never spike due to the engine, it's gotta be something either running in the background like Windows deciding to download an update or some other annoying app.
