  • Qrack Mod Menu

    Rook,

Is there a way in the future you could add a MOD menu into Qrack. It would work the way the Quake 3 one does and when you select the MOD you want it would load all the of the proper .pak files. This would prevent having to use the -game command everytime you want to load a new MOD.

I think this would be a good addition.

fyi: Qrack can already change mods in-game via the gamedir command. i.e., "gamedir slide; map slstart"

Technical note the primary flaw with a "mods menu" in a client is that just changing the gamedir doesn't necessarily do what is required to play a game. Some of the reasons include the need for, say, -hipnotic in the command line or to exec a config to start a mod or even quake.rc (frogbots is an example), specialized start maps (slstart.bsp is one example).

I know because of the hair pulling involved in this.

Actually you can just type "gamdir mymod" and then Qrack will autoexec/quake.rc from that folder.. but a menu option would be nice!

You could code it so that if there is a file called modname.mod (or whatever) in the mod folder or a Qrack/Mods subfolder it takes specific command line (etc) details from that, then you just have a thread here where people can post up solutions for particularly unruly mods.
