Hey Guys...
In a fit of nostalgia for the old days, I did a bit of searching and discovered all these wonderful new Quake builds. I got Qrack 1.90 running fine, (and man it looks good), on both my machines in the hope of setting up a little LAN, but I'm having some sort of problem...
The client machine connects to the host, but player 2 doesn't join the map...all I get on the client side is the console, with the message "Connected to ProQuake Server" and a prompt.
Somewhere here I saw somebody suggest typing "Say Hi" on the client machine, which I tried. All that happens is that in the host-side console, I get the message "Unconnected: Hi"
The status command on the host side shows only the host player as active.
So it's receiving the chat, but the other player isn't appearing in the map, and doesn't show as connected at all from the host side. Invoking a status command on the client-side either does nothing, (usually) or causes a disconnect (once).
Am running WinXP SP2, with ethernet adapters, and the machines are connected by a direct TCP/IP cross-over cable...no router/hub/anything involved.
Would really appreciate any help or suggestions...dying for a little at home DM action.
Many thanks,
