320x200 is what I used from 1998 or 1999 when I started til this year. I changed from 320x200 to 640x480 sometime (same month or next month) after that post and that's what I've been using. I'm still using Winquake too.

I don't care that much about things looking prettier. I want better functionality.

using Qrack at 1920X1080, 32 inch flat panel. I have all the settings pretty much maxed out. I get over 78fps at that res.

In glpro400.exe, I get over 219 fps at that same resolution.

If you care about functionality, then absolutely don't use WinQuake! That is an ancient client not updated.

Hehe, he's not using "winquake" but rather wqpro

But he means he just means he isn't using a GL client.
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

Also, I wanted to see if I'm the only dumbass who uses the default Quake res

GL clients at 640x480, usually. I get about 400 FPS when doing timerefresh at the start of e1m1.

I don't use larger resolutions because I simply can't get used to it. I also think most maps don't look good at 1280x1024 or whatever my screen res is. The low res textures get really ugly when viewed at that res, and there are no good faithful replacement textures for the whole game (including the amount of modified and obscure textures we use at RMQ).

640x480 windowed seems the most bearable look for me. I don't play online though. I could probably use 800x600 but see no real reason.
