  • QuakeSpasm

    I don't know, maybe I'm just blind or what, but just recently I found out there is this client. Being on Linux while loving FitzQuake in Windows, discovering this one was simply great!
    I thought that there is just DP, TyrQuake, Quore (which I couldn't build on 64bit) or an older version of ProQuake, Linux ver of older Qrack + maybe something else I don't remember.

    Simply put, it works beautifully, I can use my old autoexec from Fitz w/o any change. There is one thing I like compared to Fitz - somewhat more natural mouse input. It's not "accelerating" like Fitz in Windows, feels almost as good as in DP, at least on my hardware.

    Thanks everyone involved in the engine, great stuff.

    That reminds me, I should take a minute or 2 and add that engine to the alternative engine links.
    Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

    So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

        Hehe. I got 0.85.1 yesterday afternoon, 0.85.2 was also released yesterday. Something to look for again after work.

          WhiteRoom

          WhiteRoom seems to completely crash Quakespasm. To the level where X is dead and I have to kill it from another tty. DarkPlaces runs it just fine. Sometimes it crashes immediately after loading the map, sometimes it crashes just a few secs after. So far, this is the only time QS crashes, it's rock solid otherwise.

          I can try Fitz in Wine after I get home, so I know if to report it to Quakespasm guys directly or not. But if anyone using Fitz in Windows can test it, it would be nice.

          P.S. the version I use is 0.85.3, built on F13 64bit.

          EDIT:
          Yes, crashes Fitzquake too. If I can read it correctly, the last console message is:
          EV_TouchLinks: next != L->next
