  • ProQuake 4.30

    This is a quality build with a few new decent features. I'll mention the ProQuake 4.26 features after the new ones just because that is so recent, but this is a FAR better update.

    Newest Features

    1. Web download progress bar
    2. Web downloading works by default now (4.26 change)
    3. Smooth coop. The monsters will NEVER be jerky on, say, an RQuake server.
    4. WinQuake (wqpro) now has optional animation interpolation courtesy of MH. r_interpolation_animation 1.
    5. Session to session command history (like JoeQuake, except makes a human readable file quake\id1\proquake_history.txt). Press up arrow in console to scroll through "last time's commands".
    6. glpro clears textures on every map load and can potentially runs hundreds of maps back-to-back instead of eventually running out of texture space.
    7. chase_active 2 support (can be used as an overhead view)
    8. Supports MP3 music, DX8 build is standard now, cl_bobbing 1 support, rotation support and a few other small changes.
    9. Some bug fixes here and there.

    is it 64bit or 32bit?

      Source doesn't have a configure or make file? I'm trying to get this running under Ubuntu 9.10.

        I don't presently have a Linux machine so there is no Linux version at this time.

        This release is Windows only for now, with OS X and couple of other alternate "operating system" versions coming eventually.

        I might do some updates to the Linux version via VirtualBox, but so far I haven't.

                      Thanks to some code in FTEQW's mathlib.c, this feature now works even in the wqpro version (OpenGL has matrix projection stuffs built-in, WinQuake doesn't use OpenGL ... but FTEQW has mathlib matrix manipulation ).

                      So now all the ProQuake builds have this feature.

                      Just type scr_autoid 1 in the console and demo playback displays names overhead.

                      I have some ideas in mind to make this feature available in coop and server admin that specifically enable this feature during real gameplay.

                          It is easy to borrow and put into Qrack, just do a search for "SUPPORTS_AUTOID". I isolated it very clearly, I wouldn't imagine it would take much more than 10 minutes to add to Qrack honestly

                          The OpenGL version uses SUPPORTS_AUTOID_HARDWARE and the non-OpenGL versions are marked with SUPPORTS_AUTOID_SOFTWARE with the parts used by both simply using SUPPORTS_AUTOID.

                            I just found a bug. If you play a demo and you don't have the map, it tries to download it -- which is fine (but I didn't intend that). The problem is that it doesn't know to restart the demo afterwards and thinks it is connected to a server and proceeds to crash itself

                            Perhaps stranger, Quake demos can be recorded across maps but they won't display the second map ... it tried to download that 2nd map and this is making me wonder if Quake can be caused to load that 2nd map and display it.
