Open your WinQuake and type "path" the console. It will tell you where your Quake folder is. Write that down. You'd download ProQuake and put it in that folder and start it instead of WinQuake.

Yes, you'd need to switch to ProQuake or some other modern client for best results.

Scroll to the bottom of the QuakeOne.com home page and look on the right side and you'll see a list of recommended online clients.
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

I just have to say - don't download the current version of DirectQ for online use as it only has a partial fix for this (works with some servers, not with others). The next version will be available over the coming weeks and will include the full fix.

        http://quakeone.com/proquake/proquake_434.zip

        Bakers latest build of proquake.

Just extract it into your Quake folder on your computer, and create a shortcut from the glpro-4.34 exe onto your desktop and set you -width 1680 or whichever ya prefer your resolution to be.

An your good to go, he's already modded it so that it will auto download any maps that you may require when you connect to any server. Which is great.

        Have fun! ^^
