      new version

      i was trying to get brighter blood...this is the best i could get it.


      the blood still seems a little dark.

      heres the particlefont.tga that is 4mb...rar is 300k
      Download particlefont.rar from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way

            other topic - there is new darkplaces autobuit available inside the "files" directory in the download section of darkplaces homepage. exploding boxes now use the correct effectname and custom effectinfo.txt now works with exploding boxes too.

            i just found out you can load sprite texutres in progs folder...used the tenebrae ones, with same file name for s_explode.spr_0 and they loaded...the explosion has a black box around it but i think i just have to make a new alpha channel.

            sweet.

                Hello seanstar,

                loading sprite textures in replacement folders is not a new thing to do.
                LordHavocs DarkPlaces engine is a real "Replacement Engine".
                Thats why you and I (and I guess many more out there) love it and use it !

                Many Quake sprite replacements are already available.
                Just recently Moon[Drunk] & My-Key released a couple new ones in his awesome pack.
                You should dig through them and you will find out.

                You will find wonderful things like this (before / after):






                If you dont want sprites to be present at all, you can use the trick that jakub1 explained.

                It doesnt matter what you do: Use transparency (a lot of it !).

                Another famous sprite that came into my mind is LH�s beautiful torchlight.
                It is not a simple texture replacement though, but uses the same trick.

                  i made these textures last night...my wife told me they're great=P


                  i need a new s_explod.spr with more frames...i made my own but the game doesnt pick it up.


                  anyway this is what i came up with and i like it prettty much.

                    You guys are great! Thanks so much for sharing your efforts with the rest of us. Sean, I'm Jeff from the Youtube request for the SR8 by the way. How about your rocketlauncher model, would you mind sharing it. My Quake has so many options with all of the ammo, weapons, textures and monster models, it's like playing a new game each time! I'm so glad I stumbled upon this forum and the people here are great and so patient with Newbs like me.

                      hmm, I'd love those bubble and torch/globe light sprites but not sure which of those files to dowload to get them, are they available seperately at all?

                        visit QRP�s beautiful new website here.
                        Go to their Download page and grab the "Item textures v.0.73 - December 24, 2010".
                        Dont forget to post a "Thank you" in their thread if you like it.
                        Unfortunately that is something many people seem to forget these days...

                        The sprite files are in the progs folder.

                        Dont worry the 55MB file, there are also other goodies in there
                        (check their screenshot page to see them)

                            thanks for the tip regarding the globe sprite. i've completely missed that item pack. i don't use explosion sprite 'cause it looks bad together with the particle-based explosion, but i will definitely try the other sprites from that pack. i'm back to serious quakeing after a few months hiatus... there are so many releases - models, skins etc.. right now, i'm again knee deep in my effectinfo.txt, trying/tweaking...
