    Well, ProQuake is old school.

DarkPlaces is for fancy graphics. ProQuake is for 1997 GLQuake.

If you want model replacements and high resolution graphics, use DarkPlaces.

If you want to destroy your opponents and humiliate them, you use ProQuake

DarkPlaces might get 80 frames per second with a typical configuration, ProQuake might get 400 with the default settings on the same machine.

ProQuake is also designed to work on every single machine capable of running a Quake. If every other engine fails, you almost always can run ProQuake on any given computer.

Still your idea is interesting, heh

Note: I've downloaded your pak to have a look at it. Sure I can take some screenshots.

Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

Yeah, no doubt. Qrack generally runs very well on those kinds of video cards too, in addition to ProQuake.

Qrack has a ton of graphical effects.

For a video card like that use DirectQ (shameless self-promotion). It was deliberately written for these cards and can give very high performance on them. It IS old-school in look and feel though (but that was also a deliberate decision) but if you're OK with that you'll do good.

ack joker! at the very least darken the scrolling background on that website a few shades.
White text on white background is difficult.

Try telling that to your monitor. Let's say that your monitor is capable of displaying at 75 Hz. No matter how many frames per second can be cranked out of DarkPlaces or ProQuake, your monitor will be limited to the same thing: 75 frames per second. Any more than that, and the frames are just being thrown out anyway.

Don't take this is being insulting. I'm sure you're perfectly aware of these things; that explanation was exclusively for other people. Be realistic. I prefer ProQuake because it looks like what id Software intended for Quake. I'm sure a majority of users in the situation you described use it for just that purpose.

You know ... once upon a time, I believed that was true. But it isn't.

For starters, mouse input is run every frame. The more frames, the better mouse control. Most mice run around 125 Hz to 200 Hz and you get far better aim with, say, the lightning gun --- the most sensitive weapon of all when it comes to mouse precision.

There is also a statistical curve involved where up to about 150 frames per second, you get a few milliseconds better response when connected to a server if you have great ping. Kind of an "optimal" timing thing.

                            But I get your point.
