You don't need dpmod for the Rygel texture pack. Just drop the .pk3 files in ID1 and you'll be good to go. I recall Seven saying that the Ultra pack is broken, so try the High pack: here.

As for your problems with 3wave, I just had Monster send me a .pk3 with all the 3wave shit in it. I lost it in my recent reformat, but I've recreated it here. Just drop the .pk3 in ID1 just like the Rygel texture pack and you're good. As for your method of dropping maps in ID1/maps, that's not enough. There's other things to 3wave... like the flag models, the hook model, and tons of others I can't be arsed to think of right now.

Darkplaces is really neat... has lots of nice features I wish other engines had. pk3 support is one of them...

That should be adequate, but it is not.
Another reason why I did not use -game 3wave , is because my DarkPlaces is currently -game dpmod, go figure, thought that was required to utilize RYGEL. Am I not right?

I am presuming it should be obvious why I chose to place the maps in the maps folder...
This are not only maps, that are .pak files, at least the version i have. So you could not only put them into the maps folder. If you rename them to pak2.pak, pak3.pak (and so on) and put it into the ID1 folder, then they should work also.

I bet that if you put the .pak files into the ID1/maps folder they would'nt work with any engine...

my drivers are up to date but . . .

        Thanks Seven!

I discovered that my drivers are already up-to-date, but my computer still won't run darkplaces. It loads up but crashes in the opening demo the same place every time. When the player throws the grenade at the zombies, right before it explodes darkplaces crashes. I don't think it likes the explosion for some reason. Any way I can switch out the darkplaces explosion for another? Maybe that would help.

But at least I know my driver's up-to-date. By the way, it's a Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family driver. Is that just a bad driver for DP?

Intel graphics are just bad... not only for DP, but for just about everything else too.

            thanks

Thanks, Foq, I guess I'll just have to wait till I get a new computer to play DP correctly.
