  • Difficulties with music in DarkPlaces

    I'm trying to get music to work in DarkPlaces. I've converted the files to ogg, renamed them track002, track003, etc., and they're sitting nice and pretty in Quake/sound/cdtracks, yet they refuse to play. Where did I go wrong? I run Mac OS X (10.6.5), and I used SoX Wrap to convert the files from mp3 to ogg.

        Well, i have them in exact that directory and they work well. Do they work in winamp or other players? A other way is get the Auto Tracks from this thread (it's a .pk3 file), just put it into your ID1 Folder and DP should load it automaticly. Please remove the ID1/sound/cdtracks folder.

          Hello DieMatratze,

          you are not alone with your problem.
          The reason for your issue is most propably:
          I run Mac OS X
          Read about it in this thread.
          BoylerBoi is also infected with it...

          Kind Regards,
          Seven

              So it's just a bug in DarkPlaces' OS X port? That sucks.

                guys, I run the win32 version and have the same problem... I used the OGG, renamed them, put them under ID1/etc etc and no sound (they work in winamp, so it's not the problem) I don't know what could be the problem...

                  Just tried converting to .wav. Still doesn't work. Not sure if this narrows it down or anything.

                  EDIT: I was dumb and forgot to place said wavs in cdtracks. Music works now!

                    @Ezerhordren

                    I had the same issue and to fix it I had to go into my DirectX Diagnostic and disable hardware acceleration for sounds.
                    Start -> Run -> DxDiag -> Sound1 and Sound2 tab put to no acceleration and see if that fixes it.

                    For Mac users - not a clue (hate macs lol)
