DarkPlaces multiplayer problem

I've played on DarkPlaces a lot on single player mode, and everything was OK, until I wanted to give the multiplayer game a try. Everytime I connect to a server, the screen turns black for a second, and then the game shuts down. This happens on both Q1 and QW servers. Have you got an idea how to fix it?
