  • Quore's Not Dead

    Hello there,

It's been a long long long time since the last release which was far from perfect. Assume this one is in very the same vein, with tons of bugs everywhere. It might be a kind of new game, find the bugs ! Very fun.

I'm too lazy to list all the change now. I'm quite proud of the loading time with external external textures, should be less than 10 seconds with the ultra pack.

I repeat, this release is not stable. Your computer might crash and all your data might be lost forever, and WW3 would eventually start just after. Right ?

So for the 0.4.1, here you go:

Nice work. I'm not a Linux user myself, but I think it's great that something like this exists.

Get some shaders in for the next one.

I have a few options, shaders, opengl es, fixing stuff, and nothing. For now, I don't know in which direction to go.

Ok, I might have been a bit scary, so here's a more complete list of marketing features:

        - customizable game atmospheres
        - customizable and scalable hud
        - memorizable command line parameters
        - browsable mods and maps through menus with screenshot for maps
        - selectable gameplays
        - realistic pain system
        - realistic player view and movement animations with synchronized footsteps
        - fast map loading with external textures
        - copyright free support
        - big map support
        - 64 bit support

Quore is still Linux-only for now, it might change.

Of those I'd definitely suggest prioritizing big map support and browsable mods and maps through menus with screenshot for maps.

The first one is pretty much essential, and fortunately it's an easy job to obtain it by porting the FitzQuake protocol. Watch out for mclipnode_t though (very important - many big maps are unplayable without the changes around that).

The second one is really really good for player-friendliness. I got great positive feedback when I added it to DirectQ and it really helps people find a map, or (if you also add it to the SP save/load menus) figure out which save is the right one.

Nooooo, everyone should use the Quake Injector instead!!!

Just kidding, I love those features in engines.
