  • CD Audio not looping problem workaround for Vista/Win7

If you want to hear the CD audio repeating/looping in Vista/Win7 suggest downloading this tool:

    http://www.geocities.co.jp/Playtown-...-installer.zip

drag and drop your quake client exe in windows explorer over the _inmm.exe this will patch it to use _inmm/winamp in the back for cd audio play instead of windows MCI (media control interface bugged/broken in vista/win7) given you set it in _inmm config before
then use create a _inmm.ini within _inmm.exe (reading in the tracks listing of the cd) and save it to your quake folder

download an old fast winamp version with cd audio support like 2.95
point _inmm to the installation of winamp and start quake then cheer because the audio now plays correct and you can even use winamps dsp controls for it!
you can now play quake and its mission packs/addons in its full glory with the cool music looping not going silent after 1 time play
everything works like normal you dont have to control winamp _inmm does that for you based on quakes calls to MCI

All windows quake1 and quake2 engine games and basicaly every other game using MCI and waiting for an MCI SUCESSFUL NOTIFY after track has finished playing suffers from the same problem since vista
Permanent solution would be rewriting cd_win.c to use something else to play audio from the cd until then this workaround works fine and for quake2 and others it works too

Note: Steam versions all come without music (there is no cd and they didnt bother to work out a solution which is pretty damn cheap of them)

    Update:

the japanes freeware "Digital CD Player" can be used with _inmm
download it here as an alternative to winamp for use with _inmm playing cd audio
