  • Quake Arcade Tournament Edition modified exe?

    Good morning!

My name is Gary Donovan and I run the 3dfx collection website-

    The Dodge Garage 3dfx collection

I'm trying to get Quake Arcade Tournament Edition running on a Quantum3D Quicksilver system but it requires a security dongle to run.

How hard would it be to recompile the glquake.exe so the security check is bypassed? This should be fairly easy since the source code has been released long ago.

Compiling software isn't one of my skills and this is legal as of July of 2010 since a replacement dongle isn't available from LBE systems.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Gary

If some one could point me towards a group familiar with reworking the source code I'd be obliged.

Meant to reply to this a while ago.

There's no code relating to the dongle in the released source so you can't remove what isn't there. I've never even seen this edition of Quake, but if I was a betting man I'd say that the game content is very probably encrypted and that the dongle contains the keys needed for decryption. It would probably be OK to try crack the encryption for personal use, but almost definitely illegal for distribution.

Nope, game content looks like pretty standard stuff as far as I can tell.

Even has the regular maps in it!
