    I can't get r_glsl_ commands to do anything of noticable effects (like on DM3,outside Pent area. Rocks simply wont start looking rocky?

    try using 'r_texture_dds_load 1'
    you need to turn it on when using pretty water cuz it uses dds textures


    and about r_glsl cvars doing nothing:
    did you also install QRPs normalmap add-on pk3?
    cuz if you dont have the additional normal maps installed turning on offsetmapping wont do a thing
    .
    are you curious about what all there is out there in terms of HD content for quake?

        if you already used 'r_glsl_offsetmapping 1'
        try using 'r_glsl_offsetmapping_scale 0.05' if you didnt use that command yet

        oh, and if that still doesnt work, try using another darkplaces build. i know that in some builds offsetmapping is disabled.
        i myself use this build, which was recommended to me by seven: darkplaces-20110702

          pretty water fixed.
          r_glsl_ still being ARG.trying another release. (suggested1)

            Remember, that bluntz used an "insane" offset-scale value of "0.2" to achieve the visual in his screens here

            And in case you do not use a Windows OS (maybe MAC ?), Peter Tron made a thread with valuable tips.
