Nope... According to r00k, it starts with a V. And I don't think there are any other engines starting with a V.

              Correct.

I personally think that it's pretty obvious, especially the way that the mini scoreboard is arranged.

The main feature used isn't the md3 models, it's the replacement textures. That took a lot longer to set up than you'd think...

16:03:30 <gb> the fact that only playtesting tells me that probably means that my mind is a sieve

I was having problems with NEWEST DarkPlaces, (jibberish on my console)
but after a fresh install of quake, it all works dandy. DP has alt of really nice solid features, im part purist and thinkQrack is getting kinda bloated with unused features myself for multiplayer game, but inall DP has a great set of features and rock solid stability. Ive never seen DP crash in the last 6 years!

Correct and it was hard as hell to do, but now I can document it and let others have their own fun with that engine.

I'll write up a tutorial on it sometime (some of the stuff isn't newbie, unfortunately) and probably tonight make an installer with that stuff and some killer DM settings that I found.

Oh quit knocking your own engine ... it kicks ass.

I couldn't believe how cool the fire effects were when battling monsters to add some cool screenshots in the RQuake manual.

You do need to start from scratch with your configs but it's worth it. I started with 0 configs at all so I never had that problem. There was a new release (as in non-beta) yesterday. 10 minutes before the end of 6/6/6. And he's since fixed 3 things and made a new beta build. I'll post the link as soon as I've tested it.

He clearly thought that was Vengeance R2. But that wasn't the answer. Rook figured it out a few posts later.

Although DarkPlaces users like LardArse and co. thought the answer was blatently obvious, non-DarkPlaces users probably never thought DarkPlaces could be pimped out to look at that new skool.

Given that DarkPlaces is presently barely used in NetQuake or QW multiplayer, most multiplayer types are not very familiar with the engine (except maybe some mixed types --- DarkPlaces users for single player/QW for multiplayer types, but many QW players do single player, when they play that, in their QW engine -- EZQuake/FuhQuake).

I've been using DarkPlaces almost exclusively on the servers for almost a week and it can kick ass --- but I'm new skool and can't stand the "old skool" look so I played around.

I'll have something out so everyone can use this soon. I'm working on the small details.

DarkPlaces has been pimpable for 5 years, but usually none of the DP users have bad enough taste to use those terrible textures and models.

I've seen it crash plenty of times, but things get fixed
