  • Non GL proquake client for mac?

First time poster here. Im guessing this is a no, but im just (attempting) to get back into quake and was never a OpenGL fan. Also ive done a fair amount of research on the mac mouse polling rate limit of 125hz but can find no way of boosting it above? anyone know way to do this? I want to just suck it up and buy a pc but my wife would kill me. Oh also does anyone know of a decent pak editor for mac?

    Thanks in advance.

Use Winebottler. Then about 8 times out of 10, anything that worked on XP runs on the Mac.

Winebottler is nearly idiot proof and easy. I use Windows Pakscape on my Mac, as an example. It wraps the Windows .exe into a configured Mac .app via WINE and you just click the app and run it like normal. No Bootcamp required. This won't run your 2011 Windows DirectX 18 Awesome game, it will run simple XP compatible .exe files.

If the mouse rate bothers you a lot, there is this free utility called USB Overdrive which is awesome: USB Overdrive X (Mac) - Download

I guess I've somewhat lost interest in USB Overdrive because I always load up my crusty 2002 Dell desktop if I play online, but when I tried seriously to do well on a Mac it was vital.

Well ... on my Mac, I don't run Windows ProQuake under Wine.

I use Mac ProQuake. There is a software renderer version.

http://quakeone.com/proquake specifically http://quakeone.com/proquake/proquake_445b_osx.zip (the glquake app is the gl version, the "quake" app is the winquake version)

[Had I known you were unaware of the Mac version of ProQuake, I would have said something in my first reply. I figured you knew.]

            Add:

The above .zip doesn't have the Mac "winquake" version in it, only the GL.

This one does have the "winquake" Mac version in it [download]

I've probably asked more questions than anyone, really Sounds like you got it working, that is the part that matters.
