I have decided that there is no reason for me to continue writing tutorials here (QuakeOne). It's too frustrating for me to go look at all of my hard work and see that people are more interested in making some point over and over. You've made your point. I should expect nothing, so there is no reason to bother. I really really believed that there was a reason to bother. I believed it so much that even after erasing my bullshit, I decided to get back on topic and give it another go for you guys, just to have more "points" appear.

    I can't remember the last time i said these words, but "I give up, you win" {shakes your hand and congratulates you}

JD - I want to approach this differently. I have a very high QQ. That stands for question quotient. I was blessed with the ability to figure puzzles out very quickly. Because of this, I believe my PURPOSE in LIFE is to figure those puzzles out and then explain them to people that are blessed differently than me, or maybe not even blessed at all.

In the past, on other forums, I have had quite a bit of success in fulfilling my purpose in life. I depuzzle things and multitudes of people participate - ask questions, make suggestions as to how my stuff could be even better and yes I even gets some hugs every now and then. My favorite hug of all is "I understand", you can keep the "thanks". "Thanks" is useless to me. I can't do anything with "thanks", but I can quantify my purpose with "I understand"...forever.

In order to have a purpose there has to be a purpose. By observation, there is absolutely no purpose to teaching QC. This thread is a prime example. If I wouldn't have gotten annoyed and posted what I did, this thread would simply have nothing in it but, 2 tutorials and 2 thanks. That makes this pointless, without purpose.

I cannot waste my time on purposeless activities, when I know that somewhere there is a group of people that would be ecstatic if I fulfilled my purpose in life, for them. Don't forget, I program in 9 languages. I also know a fuck load of other stuff (mechanics, music theory, culinary arts, carpentry, painting, plumbing...). The list is substantial. However, it really doesn't matter what I already know. I didn't already know anything here and I was writing tutorials and answering questions with some severely educated guesses, on many occasions (sometimes even wrongly - to keep tis honest). My QQ, it is my super power and it is backed with a tome of experience and relativity. Why wouldn't I want to share it, especially when I have the power to express it clearly? Sharing means that other parties are actually involved. I'm not "sharing a message" style sharing. I'm providing an education. That's a whole different kind of sharing.

So, I will ask you one question? Can you convince me that I am wrong and teaching QC has a purpose, right now? I don't believe you can. You would amaze me if you could.

        ----

I believe it is obvious that I won't be making any blogs for QC. If I can't get a modicum of participation on the "official" Quake website - why on Earth would I make a blog? The blog is something you make when you have constant participation and want to own your content, make it exclusive.

I have failed in my purpose as it relates to Quake. I would be enacting the primary definition of "being crazy" if I were to continue. For clarity, I am referring to: Someone that does the same thing repetitively but, expects different results. Believe it or not, I am not crazy. I'll tell you what I am, though. Determined, determined to fulfill my purpose in life to the best of my ability and with the greatest possible impact. I dedicated myself to that here, and whereas I held up the former, the latter leaves much to be desired.

        ~Gypsy

PS - I haven't consciously come to any of these decisions to be against you, my friend. On the contrary, maybe everything I have ever done here was specifically for you. Unfortunately, I know I can do (way) better than 1 student (and have to). I am appealing to you to understand that.

***I am NOT trying to imply that I can figure anything out or that I am the greatest puzzle solver in the world or anything that any of you could possibly contrive, other than: I have a high learning ability coupled with the ability to describe it and because of that I believe it is my purpose in life to do exactly that.

        The End

You seem to base the value of your work on the feedback you get on it from others. And when your work consists of trying to please others by helping/teaching them then that is ripe for disaster. Maybe you can find aspects of modding that are more rewarding to yourself just by themselves (where the end result stands by itself)?

Getting gratification for social interaction over the internet is really really hard to get.

This site just picked a SEO friendly domain and thus Google leads people here, there is nothing official about it.

            purpose, purpose, purpose, purpose

To intend or resolve to perform or accomplish.

Please tell me how many times I have to copy and paste that before it becomes clear

"official" - note the quotation marks. In English quotation marks can be used for many things. One of those things regards implying a meaning with a word that does not entirely mean your current use of it.

via Google: QuakeOne.com is the largest quake 1 community on the web featuring ....

I'd say that makes this place plenty "official", wouldn't you?

            ----

[smh] I seriously can't do this anymore. I need people that can read and comprehend simultaneously.

            ---

purpose - one more time in the hopes that it will finally sink in.

Thanks for explaining the usage of quotation marks. I knew that already though. I just omitted them in my reply. Please imagine them being there: (...) there is nothing "official" about it.

The text you see on Google is there because quakeone.com uses that in the meta description tag of its homepage. If you are curious, view the source of it. You could easily register quakeonequakeone.com and make it read "this is the largestestest Quake 1 community in the whole universe".

Imagine where this thread would be if things went much differently. It would now be 2 months of me explaining QC on a level that I've never seen it explained elsewhere. Imagine the QC source I would have to share at this point that was based on this work. So much was abandoned and never revealed due to useless conflict and a lack of focused and relevant participation...and that is official.
