Just be aware that newer builds include bugfixes and support new features. They maybe also increase performance.
And if you plan to create mods, then you should definitely use a newer build, as usually everybody else is using newer builds as well. Especially when you want to use dpextensions, which increased and changed over the years.
So, as a summary: Yes, you should update

i'd recommend the 2014-04-03 DP build, as its latest stable and bug-free build which supports anything that mods like seven's SMC need
