Follow nahuels link. its the most comprehensive list of csqc information you'll find.
Given that you are already using darkplaces, want a standalone game, and plan on making hud chages...you'll want to know csqc.

forums.insideqc.com (formerly inside3d (formerly insideqc)) is the place to be for modding help.
Its pretty dead as of late, but there is tons of history there, so you should read through the backlogs at some point.

Also, join the #qc irc channel , its the best way to get quick feedback from the engine authors, extension authors, and some key members of the modding community.
