  • "Kimp-Proofing" Servers

    I'm making a "stage 1" improved server intended for use at CRMOD or CTF servers. There is no reason that the actual server executable can't be done tonight. But I need an answer to 1 question from below:

    That connect and spam thing when the ip is banned is already addressed. pq_connectmute won't allow someone to do that, but HDZ's server executable doesn't have that feature. This does.
    I don't like CTF that much (and suck with the ThreeWave style hook) and don't really like team deathmatch on DM3.

    So ...

    Assuming someone has admin on a CRMOD server and kicks or bans Kimp and he comes back using a proxy, how long would he have to be stopped from changing his color upon connect from white to some other color to have time to start the game? Would 20 seconds do it? 45?

    I want an effective solution "now" and the perfect solution can come later.

    BTW, Can someone private message me Kimp's true ip address.

    So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

    This is his ip for botting on servers... [removed ip address] I have no clue if this is his real ip or if its a dummy ip.

        I'll pm you his ip address as of today and thanks Baker, great idea and good job!. To answer your question you really cant connect to a crmod game if ones already going on untill it finishes, but if in practice mode, its instant. Just being able to block him completely from the servers would be great.

          Eieio said Kimp keeps joining CTF unbalancing teams and such. I don't know if someone had admin and kicked him and he kept coming back or what the story was (if no one had admin and if CTF doesn't have vote-admin, well, the above won't fix that since he can't be kicked).

          Just trying to find details to close all the loopholes of someone being a nuisance. It is the servers that need "fixed", otherwise there will be another Kimp someday.

            maybe get an exhaustive list of well known proxies and ban the use of them being able to connect to any server relating to quakeone or game servers even the no-ip adders.. and ban all known ip's of offenders, and keep a documented list and keep them updated.

                  Yeah, except in Stage 2 things don't work the old way any more, hehe

                      make it a pain for him everytime he gets kicked... like an "unbindall" cmd...
                      Cbuf_AddText (va("say ZeroQuake GL version 1.10\n"));

                          Scan the connecting host and see if it's an open proxy. All major IRC networks already does this.

                              Exactly!

                              The good part of this here deal is that the persons in this case who finds out "anything that can go wrong, will go wrong" are the peoples who likes to screws up our games!
