  • OK the server does not crash just stops taking connections

it will not accept connections, but it is running and I can get into the console through qhost. I can change maps and all the normal stuff, winded.exe is also runing with 0 % cpu in task manager

I have tried with windows firewall on and off

it seems to happen alot when people disconect

the only way to get it back so people can connect is if I turn the server off and back on again

    this is on XP pro

    any ideals?

I believe it is related to have too many entities (this error occurs on some CTF maps and some Team Fortress maps -- yes nq TF).

Here is some more technical info on your error:

WINDED.exe --- That's like a 15 year old binary. You could be hitting Quake lack of a clock fix bug or some other related problem that has been fixed in ProQuake or Qrack.

You really should be using ProQuake 4 dedicated server (wqpro400.exe").

Yeah I was looking into it more

I tried wqpro but qhost does not work with it at all.

winded is server version 1.06, winquake is ver 1.09.

I tried to beat it up with server 1.09 (connect and disconnect, cut connection, etc etc) and it seems to be more solid now.

is 1.09 the last version of winquake?

        Meh...

well it stopped accepting connections again...

Want to run the server as a service and be able to use qhost to run it so I can allow others to help admin..

        any ideals?

ProQuake can use rcon if you want remote console access. Doesnt crctf2.8 support multiple admin codes?

Yeah but Qhost allows me to let other people have access to reboot the server.

Any hoo, I got winquake pro 3.5 to work! I renamed it just straight up winquake.exe and qhost launched it with no problems!

I then tried WQPRO 4.0 and renamed it, well that did not work at all, so I will try it now with WQPRO 3.5

is there a 3.6 tru 3.9 to be had? I would like to seee what is the highest rev that will work with qhost

3.50 is common for servers from what ive seen
runequake coop uses it, but then again it may be a modified version of 3.5
you maybe can try to check here(File Listing) but baker will have a better answer than mine
