  • SP map: printing a message on player's screen

I'm building an SP map for Quake. Is there some trigger that will print a message to the player's screen when he walks into it?

Similar to the messages that show up on the sequences ("1 more to go...")? Or hwo can you create such a sequence?

trigger_once brush will trigger once in its lifetime.

Trigger_multiple (I'm thinking) has a counter with the number of events that has to happen printing the "1 more to go and such ..."

This reminds me that I need to resurrect the Worldcraft Entity Reference site that lists all Quake entities and how they can be used and their properties.

However, I do want to add this is a far better fit of a question for Func_Msgboard with single player mappers lurking all times of the day than me, Zop and whether or not JPL or Spirit or the 3-4 others happen to be reading here.

You can give trigger_once a "message" key with a value of "whatevermessage".

You create that sequence by placing a trigger_counter and targeting that with switches or whatever.

You could also maybe once every other ticrate, in the mod, check your origin and maybe update from there. Might not be your needs, but could be also used for indicator for percentile of completion of a map... etc..
