(Note: I have absolutely no knowledge of QuakeC)

Allied monsters, just like in the D00M/Skulltag engine. Are they possible in Quake?

If so, who has used them?

I find it rather unusual that almost no one uses allies in Quake, but quite a few in the older ID engines.

Take a look at Cujo. Source included.

Scourge of Armagon also had a powerup that creates a friendly monster.

Yes, I've seen the friendly flying imp, it's also in Hexen II (Quake engine).

But it's not as cool as Cujo. I love how it behaves as an animal and not just a bot; it eats gibs and such.

        Thanks guys.

In MegaTF coop you can buy an attribute which lets you resurrect a slain monster to help you. They don't work all that well, though :/

I think it was the Nehahra mod that had friendly players... There's one guy that usually surprises me into killing him, right after he says he's relieved to see me. Too sad.

I recently discovered Zeusbots in Killer Quake Pack. Those can be allies, but they're still more DM adapted. Still fun to use (spawning an army of 10 allies, plus Cujo).

After having more of a play around, Cujo is the champion. His behaviors are somehow so friendly and energetic, and sometimes I find myself talking to him. It's a shame there's no doggy-treats feature.

Whereas, the Zeusbots seem like unwilling robots in coop.

Soul of Evil Indian Summer had friendly helper guys on Trinca's map. That mod is open source.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...
