  • Speaknow crashing... sorta...

Was playing aerowalk of speaknow, then it showed intermission after one round. Then, it kept saying "Loading map... please wait." repeatedly, without actually changing map... AND people kept being disconnected by server... ?

    Good times?

it has a issue with the custom maps for the most part, but it appears the id1 maps are all intact.

for custom maps, I recommend rage.quakeone.com , for the time being.

I'd have ask for a console log if the mod is bugged; as there's nothing I have changed in the mod for over a year now. Maybe a configuration error? nextmap (impulse 222) will print that message without a vote if one is an admin, or everyone else is AFK and they spam the nextmap command. I tried it on speaknow and nothing happens, only the message. If i keep typing it, the message keeps repeating each time. I assume levels.cfg is missing or empty. add nextmapoff to ca.cfg if you wish to have it disabled.

Or it is missing the custom maps in id1/maps like ultrav, q1edge, q3dm6qw, etc.
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

Speaknow is running modified CAx code, to my knowledge, in order to CC, people have to YES vote ,anyone who wants to CC. That is the modification that occured.I dont know, but I think joe is the only one with access to the account last I heard, cuz his feet be takin care of the bill.

updated : connected to speaknow, before idling/waiting on someone, I tried to warp to DM3, it was currently on Match mode / Aero , and would NOT warp. I tried varying combinations of warp attempts..
          5 - 3 for dm3
          5 - 1 for dm1
          11 - 0 (no local maps, )

Odd thing is,nothing worked until I did reset-server from within admin commands. Now,its on dm3.

I need to have the Fatpipe admins add some additional logging arguments to the command line. Levels.cfg contains map info, nextmapoff is set, and all the custom maps are present, so I'm not sure what's going on.. yet.

I would do a chkdsk on the server. It's possible that after loading the same map billions of times over that there was a head crash over the spot on the hard drive that has DM3 stored on it, causing such odd behavior.

Sounds like a distaste for dm3 created a possible new solution. Maybe I read that wrong, but he does not have access to the actual box.

FYI, I <3 DM3. and im pretty sure loading dm3 falls far behind in amount of times accessed compared to,say, system files,so.dont hate

Lets try and re-create the problem by loading DM6 a billion times.
In about 10 years or so we will have our answer.
