Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.
So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...Tags: None

That in conjunction with UGS's "statement" makes me think the lifeboat we're all on has a leak in it! The boat sank in 1997.
Whats wrong with people these days? Quake is a classic and a huge piece on many gamer's mantles. Maybe the 1996 gamers grew into other activities in life and the "new-aged" kids are in to realistic life like interaction like COD etc and can't be bothered to put in some valuable time in the roots of their gaming.
Quake1 OBV isn't going to "change" and doesn't need to. It needs to have a prime control center where games can be even easier to jump in and start playing. Look at QuakeLive for instance, it brings new life into an old game, Quake needs to be reheated and displayed in a manner that's "fresh", complete, stable and accessible!
Of course these are only my personal views and I'm not going to be able to do all that by myself (Or even a portion) but Its important to stay positive!
Baker said some pretty true stuff to me once when I commented that Quake1 is dead, he said "Chess is *500 years old and people still play it everyday.". How much has Chess changed and do you really think it needs to be changed? I say no.
While Quake1 isn't Chess it is a game meant for Human beings to interact with and enjoy themselves. As it stands, from here on out is a 100% community carried "project" thats been picked up and played with, improved upon and brought back to the circle of "friends".
We have the tools to make something very cool here and 100% of the content is already provided to build on!
While Quakeone.com is "Quake players" and Inside3D.com is "Dev", I suggest we build on the "Mod Releases" section of the forums, 2 forums for Quake dev isn't enough! We are QuakeOne! We make shit happen! and We keep Quake alive! Not the people who play, but the people who pay. Wether its in the form of money being spent on running servers or in time spent making Quake better, prettier, sharper etc...
Basically we need to get our stuff together, cooperate and start pounding out a real path or we will forever only be in development!
Players also OBV play an important roll but they're more of a front-end issue which relies on the back-end to enjoy Quake.
Anyway I'm sure all this can be done and there's exciting stuff in the future for both MODS and PLAYERS(OBV).
Just because it's "free" doesn't mean its unimportant and it doesn't matter what you do until you do it.Last edited by Phenom; 04-20-2011, 12:38 PM.

I've been in and out of the Quake world since 1996. I've gone from insanely active (Team 3 mapping team, news hound for PlanetQuake, side-work with GameSpy etc..) to dropping off the face of the earth for several years due to real life stuff. I actually just came back after another 3 year layoff. After playing a slew of Xbox 360 games I was getting tired of them and pulled Quake off my backups. QuakeWorld is still one of the most insanely fast and intense multiplayer games ever, even after all these years.
I was talking to my (17.5 year old) son about games... modern games like Call Of Duty etc. all exist because of Quake and their mods.
It was sad when GameSpy (i.e. PlanetQuake) got rid of a ton of their hosted sites a few years ago. I was able to save Team 3 for a short time, but they finally decided to get rid of it. I did snag all files before it went away though (just put them on up a free hosting service).
I have fond memories of many of the old Quake sites. Thankfully some still exist (BSP HQ, Shambler etc..). I laughed hard re-reading through some of Cranky Steve's reviews (Something Awful :: Cranky Steve's Haunted Whorehouse :: Review Index).
Unfortunately I'm not able to host anything but give major props to all those that can. Saving these sites/code is a must IMO. Who knows when the next major game breakthrough comes from Quake.
