  • Server Setup Help

    Hello, I recently just purchased an 8 slot Quake 1 server through UltimateGameServer.com (formerly fatpipes) And it has been way too damn long since I've touched a Quake server so I'm lost in the woods to say the least. I went through the Server setup guide in this forum section but half the links linked to the homepage of quakeone.com . So I come to you guys asking for help!

    I'm trying to get a Team Deathmatch Server setup, and I'm not really sure what direction to go, should I use vanilla? Or is there a mod out there more geared towards Quake 1 TDM? And what kind of server configuration should I have set up?

    Currently looking through my servers FTP, its using the latest version of ProQuake, and has an 'id1' and 'caplus' folder. In the id1 folder the only config files are autoexec.cfg and config.cfg. However in the CAplus folder there is Autoexec.cfg (which contains my server information?), admin.cfg, carena.cfg, and config.cfg.

    The only two that seem to have information regarding my server are the Autoexec.cfg and admin.cfg (rcon pass).

    This is whats in the Autoexec.cfg (/caplus/)

    Code:
    samelevel 12
    teamplay 4
    pq_cheatfree 1
    map dm3

    deathmatch 1
    sys_ticrate 0.05
    // 0.05 for highspeed - 20 updates per second
    // 0.07 between
    // 0.1 for modem - 10 updates per second

    hostname "[ProQuake 4.5] Weissbier's Chophouse - Classic TDM"
    noexit 2
    pausable 0
    sv_aim 2
    sv_maxspeed 320
    net_messagetimeout 60
    pq_maxfps 72
    //proquake's msg spam detect
    pq_spam_rate 1
    pq_spam_grace 4
    Currently the server is on the teleporter room level, and I'm not even sure if TDM is enabled or not. There are no mapcycle files in the ftp, or really much of anything other than the standard pak files / dlls and the configs that I mentioned. Somehow I feel I am missing a good amount of data to get a proper Quake server running!

    Hope you guys can help, I miss this game dearly and I would love to add another server to the list here Thanks for your time!

    also this is the IP to the server, if jumping on it and looking at the settings will make this easier: 72.51.60.140:26000

    I run 3 servers through UGS and in order to run a TDM server you will need the CRMOD files located on main page on left hand side under MODS. You can setup all the files there then upload them to a folder called CRMOD. Once you do that you will need to send a support ticket with a command line of your choice and make sure to add -ip 72.51.60.140 -port 26000 to it. You can use this cmd line if you like. -game crmod -dedicated 8 -condebug -zone 1024 -mem 64 -ip 72.51.60.140 -port 26000 +exec autoexec.cfg +hostname nameofserverhere
    Anymore help just ask.. Im using my iphone to type here so i think ive covered the basics.. Good luck!

      Thank you very much for the help I uploaded the files and have put up a support ticket to get the command line changed! Now to wait and see if it all works well .

      Do you have any recommended maps for TDM style games? Right now I'm just using the default crmod map list (minus the e#m# levels).

      And is there any type of 'console' software to monitor a quake server when I'm not inside of the game?

        You can download and install qsmack on the server. In this case you would want to just make your server 12 or 16 player as qsmack will take 1 spot on server. Just read the instructions in Qsmack file and all set.
