    Some Problems

Hey, first let me say this is by far the coolest thing I've ever seen (and I myself am pretty good at installing maps)!

Anyway, its only downside is that for some maps there is still no more success in getting them to work:

    These are:

Warpspasm- installs the incomplete version (invisible monsters in the custom engines/purple cubes in Darkplaces)

Digs04- still won't run (I just get an error message (using Darkplaces))

I've archived a few maps that are normally buggy, and I'll check them out soon and let you know if there is any difference.

Hi, thanks for the kind words and reporting bugs!

warpspasm runs fine for me. It requires an engine with support for the -quoth commandline switch though. The main target engine for the Quake Injector is not yet released, sorry. The latest Fitzquake should work fine in the meantime.

digs04 runs fine for me too, it's probably an engine issue. What message do you get? Make sure you use a recent version of Darkplaces.

Then it's my Quake setup. Just so you know these are the same problems I always had when running them in the past (I've changed machines too- so it's not my hardware).
I'm pretty sure I'm running the latest version of Darkplaces, but I'll double-check. Also I have Quoth2 and Nehahra installed.
And I will try Fitzquake for Warpspasm.
The error message for Digs04 was merely "Darkplaces has encountered an error and needs to close"

By the way- how do the mod ratings work? Because there are some maps that clearly need to be bumped much higher than they presently are!!!!

        Thanks again for the help!

That digs04 error might hint at insufficient memory. Darkplaces should take care of that by itself though. (Actually I have no idea what the cause might be...) I tried the map in DP and even though it took quite a while, it finally loaded successfully.

The ratings are done by the people who review the maps (mostly negke and me). They are often not very fair.
I plan to have a month of rating discussion at Quaddicted but I always forget... There might be an option to submit rating-suggestions easily, but the ratings will never be completely user-generated (as I believe that crowds are stupid and popular things tend to dwarf hidden gems).

            True, true.

Plus it seems that all of the old productions, which were the only ever professional-ish maps of their time (mid 90s) before everyone else started making more also seem to get the best scores (nostalgia perhaps- as I only started going through the mods recently, it's a different story for me- I pretty much just shove the classics in an 'ok' folder with some rather minuscule and unknown maps in a folder called 'awesome').

Anyway- thanks! you were right about Fitzquake- I can now run digs04!!!
It however does NOT like Warpspasm- seems to be missing some file. Although it starts with the warpspasm console (with some problem because it selected a different channel or something- when I run it it closes with error "progs/s_plas.spr not found" (which might explain something else).

I really appreciate the help so far!

That would be Quoth missing or you missing the -quoth switch I guess.

                Spirit I love you!

I've found the problem is that all of the custom Warpspasm executables (glwarp, nehwarp etc) also lack the -quoth bit- so once I created shortcuts to them and then inserted the Quoth parameter into those instead they worked fine!

Although interestingly, for me it will still not put the Quoth data into Darkplaces at all, with or without the quoth parameters (the game runs fine and the custom data (eg music, textures) still run- but all of the quoth entities (minus the grunt/enforcer variants) are replaced by silent purple boxes that shoot other purple boxes- it gets really irritating trying to fight them- it could just as easily be a voreling or a Drole).

I just kept trying to get it to run on Darkplaces and assumed it would not work for the others anyway.

Also- for the Quake Injector- would it be possible to add a filter for custom entities/sounds, and also for special game modes?
It would make a nice feature for people that might know the normal monsters and guns inside-out and are after some of the more abstract works (like -Quoth games).
Although it's not that big a deal- I'm amazed at the stuff I'm finding just by going through it manually.

                  Awkwaaard!

Darkplaces does not know -quoth (as far as I know). You could try "-game quoth -game warpspasm", maybe that works.

Some sort of filter is planned. There will definitely be a way to filter maps vs "mods". I don't think that any true mods will be added though, maybe someone makes a fork for that. Currently the Quaddicted.com: Quake Singleplayer Maps might be a good starting point if you are into those kind of map mods. The lighter rows are them. Also on the description pages there are a bit more details than currently in the Quake Injector.

                      I see.
Personally at the moment I'm mainly after any high quality maps/mission packs/mods with some decent new monsters/guns/features eg Quoth, and it's a bit hard finding some even on sites like Quaddicted.

Or for that matter, a filter of Quoth-based games.

Start from site:quaddicted.com inurl:reviews intitle:"Quaddicted.com:" quoth - Yahoo! Search Results

Yahoo has the site indexed very nicely. I once tried writing a search function myself but failed miserably.

                              When it's done.
Updates to the repository/database are "live" as the tool downloads the latest version on each start. I've been fixing this and that (startmaps, some commandlines). There is nothing major new yet.
Is there something specific you are waiting for?

I was actually waiting for a more complete database, but if what you're saying is true about the database updates is live, then nothing specific.

I didn't know that. Thanks for responding.
