    weapons.zip

Hi guys, got a cache of oldskool weapons for you today; I’ve gone all nostalgic with some classic looking stuff!
I decided I didn’t like the DPMOD axe that much as the old axe looked like a shovel and I rather liked the crudity of this so I resurrected PrimeviL’s axe skin for default model with an improved hand (less pixelated) and I added gloss/bump skins too.
While I was at it I made a gloss/bump skin for my SSG skin (featured in osjc.zip) to spruce it up a bit and I’m very pleased with the result.
Likewise I started to look at some other skins and turned to MonkeyRat’s archaic looking SNG. (both player and world model). I re-coloured it, added quake runes to the barrel and made gloss/bump skins too. Don’t get me wrong, I love rygel’s ‘MKII Perforator’, I just feel this SNG really plays homage to the original ‘MK I’ but still fits in well with rygel’s skins.
MonkeyRat had also made some nice Nail models/skins too; they look less like builder’s clout nails and more like brutal projectiles.
They are big squared-off metal wedges (a lot like medieval nails) with Q runes on the base and come in both brown (NG and traps) and grey (SNG).
I think they really match the idea of the 'Flatchette’s' mentioned in the Quake manual. (I made gloss/bump skins for these too)

These simple asthetic modifications fit with my idea of what fits best into the quake universe; archaic brutal and technologically backward. It’s also very likely biased by obsession for nostalgic resurrection and as such there is no accounting for taste, I just hope you al enjoy it!

        classic grenade launcher

at it again; this time simple gloss/bump skins for PrimeviL's GL player/world models/skins, boring I know and hardly worth shouting about but I did all the others so here it is: GL!

        pic

please note; this one's only really for hardcore fans of the original models as the rygel GL is lovely as it.
However rygels dpmod gl is significantly different from the original and many nostalgia freaks may desire oldskool-ness so why not throw it out there, eh?

        all credit to PrimeviL.

These are definitely some refining touches- which says a lot considering Rygel's work is fucking awesome

I've repackaged osjclatchford nice work in one single easy-to-use pack. Just drop it in id1 folder and you're ready to roll!
            Download weapons_osjc.pk3

beware of the name: it must be loaded after reygel textures, so it needs alphabetically to follow that name's pack.

er... thanks but I wish you could have waited just a little while longer as I was planning some larger releases; gibs_osjc.zip including some head-gibs for QRP's skins, better gib skins, new zom_gib skin
and weapons_final.zip including options for tf-shotgun/centred skin, two different gls and sorry to point out that that super-shotgun has since been improved on and released already...

              but hey! its all good.

I suppose I should have put this in works-in-progress not finshed works eh?
I guess 'finished' is hard to pinpoint when it comes to skins...

looks like there might be a halt/hiatus on the gibs pack now.
there is a fair reason though; I may have to keep it just for me as really its a bit naughty.
As I mentioned; I made some head gibs for some of the Quake reforged monsters (zombie, knight, vore and shambler) but after consideration I really think its more than a bit unfair to release it.
QR is a serious work of art and I doubt they'd apreciate me usurping their work before they've even had a chance to release an official version. changes to completed works for personal reasons are one thing but unleashing knock-off pre-releases is a bit below the belt.

still, I'm still going to release an updated GIBS package damned soon, put it this way, probably before friday but could even be this afternoon if you're lucky; containg better skins for gib1, gib2, gib3 and zom_gib .mdl's (Going for higher-quality skins on old models ala quake reforged just got their skins and the almost photorealistic quality of them has made mine look a bit rubbish now!)

also I could put the axe, shotgun, supershotgun, supernailgun, gl and nails in one pack too if that will appease (i'll stick the tf-shotgun in too as an alternative if you like) I'm not sure this really nessacary as it's all in this forum anyway but I'm doing the gibs soon, so If you'd like this as well just say the word.

all the best and updates soon...
                      Latchford

Thanks man! I'd appreciate whatever you can release, but the more the better! Also, I, for one, would prefer fewer packages just for the sake that trying to collect all of them I might forget some of them, or pick an older version, as you pointed out already.

thanks guys, but I'm not anywhere near happy with the gibs yet though, I don't think they look good enough alongside the quake-reforged skins yet, I'll get there eventually (I hope)...
