You would laugh if you´d know what odyssee this VISed pack went through...
grave_digga and Mindz know it
I am still not sure if it is legal to upload my VISed maps in public... (that is why I included that readme)
But as long as Baker or any other moderator says something I guess it is all right.
So now they are online again in 1st post.
I'm lovin' the screenies and video, but I can't get the ripples to save my life...I've done everything I've seen in this thread. Even downloaded that CFG file and still not working properly. The water texture itself looks great, I like the translucency, but I don't have any ripples. All the water does is sorta scroll for a little bit, then reset and scroll some more.
I got the Pak2 file, using dpwater0.4-DIRTY.pk3, added the lines to the CFG file, also tried WebAngel's pack and still got the same result.
What seems to be the problem? I just know it's going to be a simple answer to make me look stupid... XD
[Edit] Actually, I can make a video to show you what I mean, soon, but it won't be for awhile yet.
You need to know 2 things:
1.) The "hick-up" that you see was introduced via DarkPlaces build change in may 2011.
Please read here for more details: click me
2.) I can reproduce your visual and lacking refract (=ripples) by disabeling the cvar "r_water". The default is set to "0". You need to set it to "1" to make the dp_water shader work.
One question:
Which Darkplaces build is the first to support this new water shader webangel uses? I am asking because I am using a DP build back from August 2011, and as you know, newer builds tend to break things, such as normalmapping etc.

So do I need to have v0.51 with the Dirty Water version?
Also, I do have r_water set to 1. I've transferred what I have to my friends laptop and it works on his (granted I now made his DP Quake extremely laggy, hehe).
Nevertheless, it's still not working. Even took out the Dirty Water file.
[EDIT]
I just typed r_water 1 into the console and it worked... how odd. It seems like it's not reading the Config file. Still got that hiccup, though.
[EDITx2] Okay, so after typing it in the console, it's working every time I start it up. How odd...
The fact that it was already added to the Config file and wasn't working until I typed it into the console was odd
[EDIT]
Well, I'm special...found an older version of Pretty Water (slightly altered name) in my ID1 directory. Doh! I remember getting it from the PK3 for Dummies thread. Got rid of that and so far, everything looks good! Just a bit of lag...gotta fix that if I'm going to be doing a Let's Play of this soon.
You are not the first one that wonders: "Why on earth is DarkPlaces ignoring my ID1/config.cfg settings ?"
The reason is most probably your Windows version.
You seem to have Win 7 (64-bit).
DarkPlaces looks into this folder for the config file: My Documents/My Games/Darkplaces
This has something to do with programs rights on your machine...
I am an oldschool Win XP user, so my config file is inside the ID1 folder. (But I might be wrong concerning the config, cause I never tested Win 7)
Regarding the water versions:
I only updated V0.51. The other version 0.4 has been dropped.
So if you want to use this water, please use V0.51 (Download link in 1st post)

Hello NightFright,
You are save to use your current DP build.
I use it myself.
The reletavely new shader key word "dp_waterscroll" (which is used in webangels ported water shader from Blood Omnicide) was developed in october 2010 for Nexuiz: click
I also like this Water very much, as described here.
The water is just a bit too clean, but otherwise very nice.
The slime can be used right away
Thank you again Webangel !
