Considering you aren't too serious and probably want simple vs robust, I would suggest Worldcraft with Quake Adapter. There is a complete tutorial in the download. You can download it from the last link in the left sidebar of this page.
Alternately, if you want the kitchen sink of latest possibilities handed to you on a silver platter but, with no tutorials, let me know and I'll post a link for radiant with my tyrutils gamepack.
Nobody taught me radiant. I read one tutorial and it was no help at all, for me. Editors are little more than overblown ways to draw a box (brush) and place entities. The real learning curve comes with
1: working with your entities
2: knowing your compiler
For instance, no matter what editor you use (ex) triggering a monster teleport is going to be the exact same annoyance.
