  • Quake Mission Packs - Remodels

    Thanks to Solecord for renaming the Thread.
    Instead of multiple threads for works on Mission Packs models - all "WiP/Works in Progress" updates will be here. Then a separate threat in Finished Works when they are done.

    Done the view model and I also did a bonus G_Model.
    G_model doesn't exist ingame or in the pak file. So it's a bonus if someone wants to use it. I made it because of the mod I am working on I have mentioned a few times - I need a G_Model for all guns in the game.

    Will be released upon completion of the multi-grenade projectile.

    I also noticed the Reforged team have re-done this too - but theirs is just a skinned version of the grenade launcher in Rygels pack.

      I'll try to get a screenshot of it soon. Didn't take any when I tested it - simply because the model doesn't exist in the maps at all. So to make it appear you have to replace another model (or modify the progs.dat).

        Here's a shot of my custom g_weapon. Again as I said just included as a bonus for those who may want to use it (in a mod, replacing default grenade launcher, or programming in the g_model) or would be great for those who mod in third person weapon models for the players.

              Doing the Rocket Launcher now - again I did do a G_Model - that like the Multi-Grenade - isn't used ingame - but will be included so people could use in mods ect.



              Another question: Could one of the admins rename this thread to: "Quake Mission Packs - Remodels"
              Just so I am not making multiple threads.

                  Did you change anything on the model for the multi rocket launcher ?
                  Cause it looks so familiar.

                  It seems as if only the skin is affected (yellow/black stripes) right ?
                  So to speak a variation of webangels version ?

                    Just a skin. I considered adding a bar and apply that hazard texture on it - however most hazard (yellow/black) are simply painted onto the surface - not above (like the lines in parking lots).
                    So it's done - except no release until I do the rocket. The rocket will be the high poly rocket from Rygels pack - split in 4 and some extras

                      Hello OoPpEe,

                      may I say something about the rocket model:
                      This model has an unfortunate existence.
                      Why ? Because you cannot see it.

                      If you use the effectinfo.txt. No chance to see it. You will only see smoke.
                      If you use no effectinfo.txt you also dont see it because of white trail.

                      So in my opinion, spending too much time on it makes no sense.
                      Ok, the multi rocket launcher launches 4 models at once.
                      But the smoke will also be quadrippled... --> FPS killer.
                      You might get the chance to see a small corner of it once for a while.

                      Dont take it personal, it is just my opinion.
                      Maybe people will use the model without a flag/tag on it.
                      If so, thats fine. You will see it then

                          Seven that is true. That's why I am keeping it low poly and low res textures.

                          I found a model on my Harddrive that I was using when I didn't have Darkplaces - sadly I don't know who the orig author is - but it's older as it's still in the orig Q1 mdl format - but it suits the Multi-Rocket perfectly. So I took 1/4th of the model - redrew alot of polygons so it has a side/bottom. I figured why spend all the time making a whole new model when my plan was basically this one anyways lol.

                          I will have 2 versions - with and without smoke. There will be a glow on the red area (which I will make Yellow to match my multi-grenade). So without the smoke people can see the model and the glow



                          Now keep in mind how the game does the rocket is this one side - then it makes another mirrored below, the corner and beside so 4 will make a complete whole rocket. That's why in the shot there is only 1/4 of a rocket. It also does have the "fins" I just had them hidden at the time of taking the shots.
