  • Tabun enforcer skin

    hi

After seeing the enforcer ooppee was posting made by Tabun from wirehead studios...it struck me that this skin could work well on the original model.

all credit for this skin goes to Tabun from wirehead studios...enjoy.

the skin is ready for darkplaces.
download and place these in quake/id1/progs

    Looks great
Wirehead is VERY defensive of their work - which is why I haven't uploaded mine. I ported their models to TFC years back and they got quite angry about it.

      Hello seanstar,

good to see you active again.
But remember what happened last time...
Please be careful what you release.
Listen to ooppee. It is true.

      Kind Regards,
      Seven

have to agree with seven and ooppee here, seanstar.
Its a funny old business when it comes to ip.

creditation usually covers most aspects but with work of those who are more 'closed in' on their projects, it can be quite dangerous, as many an ip arguement has been exaggerated up to court-cases resulting in expenses and sometimes fines!

not to be up on your back or anything, just concerned you might get in trouble is all.

        regards,
        Latchford

Screenshots of stuff using Tabun's stuff is ok. But please don't post links to actual derivative skins for download of his work in the forum here. I've had polite email exchanges with him in the past trying to get permission to supply derivative or Q1 friendly versions of his stuff, he doesn't want to do that and the primary reason is that he doesn't want to take away from his work. Although it would be nice if he decided to allow it, that isn't what he wants done. He did leave the door open for eventually such use in the unforeseeable future which doesn't look like will happen any time soon.

Although some people would say that treating Tabun's works differently as you can find things like Doom 3 textures in Q1 maps, Hexen stuff in Q1 maps and even occasionally non-id Software related stuff in Q1 maps and mods ... one problem really is that people don't respect others work or provide accreditation. Yeah that's a big mountain of spaghetti, but well ... who said the world is perfect.

Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

Yeah Ive been on the recieving end of Wireheads wrath once lol

I do see Tabun allowing it - but NOT until Generations reaches "Final". They are still making the mod really. There's alot still incomplete - so him allowing his model to be ported from a incomplete mod - it's understandable as it takes away from it. It'd be like me making a model and I release a beta and someone goes and takes it and finishes it their way. When I finally release the "real/complete" model - no one would really care as it was already done (and usually sloppy too)

i just got an email from Tabun saying its ok to upload...im shocked.

full credit for this skin goes to Tabun and whatever looks bad is my fault

and he asked also not to include this skin in any pk3s of mixed content.

i just have to tweak the skin a little, to fix a few corners i cut

this skin is finished, im just play testing before i upload.

Got the same permission, have to re-do the mesh a bit as I modded it. So back to 100% original Tabun's model and then have to tweak my current animations (as the skeleton I made was designed for the mesh I had).

that sounds cool ooppee...if you could get it to have nice animations that model would own.

hey, thanks seanstar! would you also happen to have the head-gib for the same foe? I think it's named h_mega.md_0. Thanks

Thank you for your work and effort seanstar.

                      @ kingennio,

there is no better headgib as the one from ooppee for this Tabun skin.
Go grab it as long as its hot: klick
You can mix seanstars and ooppees work.

                      Kind regards,
                      Seven

thanks Seven, I already looked at that but I dont think you can apply that texture to the standard model. I've looked at Reforged skins and the head-gibs in not "wrapped" like in ooppee/tabun's model. Am I wrong?

                          Hello kingennio,

                          what I meant when saying,
You can mix seanstars and ooppees work.
is that you can use the monster skin from seanstar.
Then you can use the head-model and head-model-skin from ooppee.

Throw them in the corresponding folders:
                          - monster skins into ID1\progs (and rename them to enforcer.mdl_0.jpg, and so on, as you know)
                          - head-model (h_mega.mdl) into ID1\progs
                          - head-model-skins into ID1\textures

But thats of course up to you.
Just wanted to point out, that it is possible.

                          Kind Regards,
                          Seven
