  • Getting Dodgeball on A Server

    Temp news item:

Load N Load (Trickle) with Orion and Negke have quickly produced a very high quality mod that is compatible with ProQuake/Qrack/DirectQ auto-download (and Universal Server). The maps are very professional.

This needs to be on a server for player feedback.

Mod development thread: Inside3d Forums :: View topic - Quake Dodgeball
    Download: http://www.quaketastic.com/upload/fi...all_1.1_01.zip

Note: Dodgeball models. maps and sounds are now in the download depot "downloads.quake-1.com". Playing on a dodgeball server is as transparent as connecting to an RQuake or Rocket Arena server ... the required files auto-download.

But this mod does need a server host.

Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

Ok I have it up on chicago.quakeone.com

When I join the server it gives option to join Gold or Green team, however, no matter what team I choose, I spawn inside the walls. I will wait there, perhaps once two teams join and game starts it will get us out? I'm not sure

I think I'm gonna try to change which map it starts on by default? Did you guys forget spawn points?

Edit: So the start map doesn't work because everybody's spawning inside the walls. I've added rcon through autoexec and warped.

Scratch1 is set to "5" , but it's only spawning 1 dodgeball? Fixed it. rcon srcatch1 5 ; rcon restart
          and it was fine.

Another issue we're running into is players from both teams spawning on same sides.

On map dbcastle.bsp we're able to walk through the middle once in awhile. Same in dbvault.bsp, here's a quick demo: http://www.filedropper.com/dodgeball-beta-test

Here's a longer one same map dbvault with a bit more success but still glitching through mid:
          http://www.filedropper.com/dbvault-beta-test

We played dbbase.bsp as well.... same issue http://www.filedropper.com/dbbase-beta-test

I'm not sure if it's connected, but I think it's only the Green team being able to get through the middle.

            Make sure deathmatch is 2.

Make sure the start up map is "dodgeball" or one of the supplied maps?

Yeah you're right, once I warped to a dodgeball map we were fine. I've edited post above as we run across issues. I've also replied that same post to the Inside3d Forum

Frenzy, can you PM LockNLoad and troubleshoot the Chicago server. Also,a suggestion to the mod for a priority option, would be round sounds. and indicators to new rounds and the such. Being a heavy CA player, I was not seeing the white numbers, and I couldn't get the commands function to work. I was lucky Frenzy posted the nfo that came with the mod, because I used it to learn a handful of impulses to try and get a game going.

I just put it up at quake.thisserversucks.com:26018. I connected to make sure it works, but I am not sure if it is configured 100% correct.

I recommend letting Frenzy and others sort out the details before setting up a server. Not that we don't all appreciate the tons of servers you are hosting (we do!), but we need to sort out stuff before something can be consider road-tested.

Nice! I can't seem to play it properly because mlook isn't working in my proquake for some reason, but I like the idea and the art very much so far.
