  • Func_Train Mapping Help?

    Hi there, I am currently working on a map for L4Q, a quake mod, and would really like to make some objects (preferably multi-brush) that can move around the map. Nothing too sophisticated as far as movement goes, but something shaped like a car? Or a plane? Just want to get a bit funky i guess

    Also, im no beginner as far as mapping goes, but ive always had trouble with making moving brushes using the func_train tool. Thank you!

    Could you describe your trouble with func_trains? I could probably help you out if you give me some more info, they can be tricky sometimes but they are tricky to set up if you don't know how.

    I can tell you though, if your just having trouble placing them right, the path_corner should line up with the bottom left of your train, it doesn't get put in the center like how one might initially think :/

    Also sorry if that's not your problem

      Well I would just like to set up a multiple brush "train", which would really be more like a vehicle (plane, car, etc as said before). Is that even possible? Like take a few objects and have them all move together as one? And how would i do that?

        Well that's quite simple actually, you make a vehicle out of brushes, and take all the brushes and put them in the func_train. Now whenever it moves the vehicle will move.

          Wow, really...? Haha ill have to try it out when i can... never wouldve figured its that simple. Could you make a simple example rmf maybe? Or if youre especially nice a video? Thanks again man, even if neither of those happen ill try it out!

            It is that simple. Select all your brushes and then select func_train from the entity list. Then fill in the required fields.

            Your vehicle will not turn or corner, because a func_train doesn't rotate.

            You could use a rotating func_train to do that. Google "Hipnotic rotating entities". This requires a custom progs.dat though, like for example Quoth.
