The concept is simple.
1) find a headline with an interesting image
2) post the image and write your own short story/description
3) post the original headline and an excerpt that explains the image at the bottom
I'll kick it off with a short example

Ahkmed The Duck, The Finger Of Allah

A boy shouts "Ahkmed! Ahkmed!" as a duck makes a low pass for the camera
Children in a remote Palestinian village are praising Allah for ducks. Just before winter of 2012, The United States in co-operation with NATO launched a drone operation in Palestine to isolate and take down known Al-Qaeda member Omar Massud. Astonishingly, when the drones entered the Palestinian air-space of Rafah they were attacked by migrating ducks.
In the fray, one duck was wounded and fell from the sky. The duck managed to survive but, he was seriously injured. A local shepherd and suspected Al-Qaeda operative Mahmoud Ahmossadajjal, found the wounded duck, named it Ahkmed and nursed it back to health. Ahkmed became the symbol of Allah's protection among the local Palestinians. Now, children all over this village, throw up their arms in praise and scream "Ahkmed! Ahkmed!" when they see a duck, in remembrance of the day the fingers of Allah saved them from a drone strike.

some tips:
Digg has been sending me emails lately, in the form of a digest, that contain interesting stories and images. Every one of the images so far has made me think of another story that could be applied to the image. If you want to play this "game", probably the easiest way would be to sign up for some spam news and work with the stuff they send you. That way you don't have to search at all, you just wait for some material to be sent to you and work from there.
Find images where something is happening. You know how you (ex) read something about WW2 and the image is (ex) an Aircraft Carrier? That kind of image isn't going to work. The idea is to take an image that is supposed to be one thing and completely change its meaning with a new story. Something should definitely be happening in the image.
Your stories don't have to be amazing or long. You don't even have to be good at spelling. The point of this thread is for some simple and cheezy entertainment. Anyone can tell a lie, right? Well, lie about some image... it's that simple.
Have fun.
