I've been given a greenlight for bouncing questions off of John "The Surgeon" Romero, and at first I only had intentions of asking about Quake's ins/outs legal this legal that, blah blah.

This opportunity should not be wasted on typical Mindz JibbaJabba! I know 50% of the community would 'Damn straight it shouldn't be wasted!' and the other 50% would just concur,and that's why I hope to instead (hopefully he doesn't mind) decided to turn it into a special edition of Planet9/DiscoRock* "Between two Quads" , this time you're Quad's would be...

I would prefer avoiding any questions at all not be requested here,as it would give insight into what's coming. You can ask as many questions as you want, and if duplicate or very similar questions happen to occur then they'll be combined into a mingling format. Every one who ask's a question will be credited in the B2Q's News something like this...

I was being silly, but that might actually be a good question to ask.

Sometimes when I think of a question to ask someone famous, I wonder if they get tired of the same questions... then I think I should read some previous Q&As to find something interesting that hasn't been asked.

Then I think of asking the person what is the most annoying question they get, but nowadays, trolling is popular, so his answer would probably be asked to him forever more. So, let's ask him what his favorite question was, at least one that stood out apart from most.

one question that i wonder about... i dont know if its been asked before, it probably is:

"has romero ever regretted leaving ID?"

or another related question:

"what does romero think how the future of ID (after quake) wouldve looked like if he hadnt left?"

i know they're only ID-related questions....
but i cant think of much else that doesnt seem like some generic questions


oh! perhaps a fun question would be:
"what are romero's favourite game-mods?"
and im not just talking about mods of ID-games, but just in general, of any games there are

Just a couple of ideas of the top of my head...

1. As with a lot of collaborative projects the end result is often a hybrid of the ideas formed from the individual contributions, a collective vision if you will. It might be interesting to get John's take on how different Quake may have looked and felt were it hypothetically a "Romero only" development.

2. In what direction would John liked to have taken quake in the sequels?

3. What are John's views on the more recent developments such as the SMC, Darkplaces, FTE, and Qrack.

4. Just to echo Talisa's idea, what was/is John's favourite Quake 1 mod?

5. What are John's hopes and suggestions for the future of Quake 1?

I've been waiting longer than I originally intended hoping to net some more questions from the community members, but the (2nd) deadline for those questions is now approaching!

As soon as we're fully moved and internet service is installed @ the new address,I'm gonna fire up Gmail/Quakeone.com,check for more questions, then compile the list neatly for Mr.Romero , submit it and await a response, then I drop the Romero Q&A bomb on the front page!
