There is a stark difference between the generation of gamers from the Quake days and today's generation. I'm not saying there weren't assholes back in Quake's glory days, but it seems like there are a lot more now. Could be remembering things differently I suppose.

Just another Quake currently immune to shenanigans, I'm betting he keeps his immunity too.

Sure there are more jerks playing online today, but then again there are more people playing online now total than in 1996. I think the ratio of crappy people playing online to cool people is the same.

Really? Is this true? There was no shortage of constantly full servers back in the day. Is that the case now?

"Online gaming abroad", yes. Here's a snap shot of BF4 server's....

I'm finding ArrCee's statement extremely plausible, based on 1 Quake server held 16 players.. One full capacity BF4 server holds 64. That's just one modern game vs one classic game, so its easy to see how its feasible.

                  64players x 16servers = 1024players

                  vs

                  64servers x 16players = 1024players

I am having a hard time recalling any point in time that Quake1 had 64 server's total, and all of them was full at any given moment. The only time I could imagine that being so, was back when I used GameSpy3D and was heavily entrenched in narrowband Quaking with 200+ ping lol.

Sorry... totally misunderstood what was being implied. I thought they were claiming that "Q1" presently has more people playing than when it was released... not all current games in general.
