Seriously, I wish that schools would become more accepting of video games. Schools already have many extra-curricular activities dedicated to sports and music... I think that schools should have something for video-gamers as well. Schools already spend a lot of money on sports (think of basketball games and tackle football). Seriously, it wouldn't hurt to shell out a little bit of money for video games. Some people are going to argue that "students don't learn anything from playing video games." I respect opinions, but I will definitely challenge that point... Some people under-estimate the true power of video games. Video games are very important for a student's development. Video games teach students to never give up. Being ambitious is a good thing (life is filled with many challenges.) The real world is very demanding. Video games are also essential for hand and eye coordination. Video games are very good for reactions; reaction speeds actually increase through playing video games. Video games can improve a student's problem-solving skills (especially strategy games). No question about it, problem-solving skills are the backbone of mathematics and sciences. Needless to say, video games allow students to become creative. Creativity is the heart of art. Everybody knows that art courses are fuelled by creativity.
Video games and school... Why not? I can picture it now... School A vs. School B (i.e.: The best video-gamers from School A vs. the best video-gamers from School B. There would be a live audience.) Video games and school... Seriously, now students have more reasons to stay in school. But students must maintain a good academic standing in order to take part in extra-curricular activities. So students must have some relatively good grades before they can take part in video-gaming activities. I think that my idea will become a reality one day...
