I think it is the only mentally healthy way to view the world. And I think it is a position of strength.
I can live my life second-guessing or superimposing foul motives on to others.
The problem with opposite is that it makes people on both sides into "haters", which is not only what is wrong with the world today, but is a position of closed-mindedness and weakness because your mindset is not dictated by circumstance (events in reality), but by perception (the emotions of what you expect).
So in the former, you react to changes in reality.
So in the latter, you react to the monsters in your head -- and by doing so, cede control of them to be no more sophisticated than a cave man. But this isn't what makes humans great, it is rejecting that.
I would ask, is there a particular advantage to worrying about what-ifs?
I myself think it will be enough to only be upset if the these new rules, when released, are found to be harmful. I don't trust the government or "big business", but I think they would have a very hard time putting through something actually harmful.
