I was explaining me and my point of view.

And here is something I believe --- and this isn't directed at you ... I believe in rationality.

I think it is the only mentally healthy way to view the world. And I think it is a position of strength.

I can live my life second-guessing or superimposing foul motives on to others.

The problem with opposite is that it makes people on both sides into "haters", which is not only what is wrong with the world today, but is a position of closed-mindedness and weakness because your mindset is not dictated by circumstance (events in reality), but by perception (the emotions of what you expect).

So in the former, you react to changes in reality.
So in the latter, you react to the monsters in your head -- and by doing so, cede control of them to be no more sophisticated than a cave man. But this isn't what makes humans great, it is rejecting that.

I would ask, is there a particular advantage to worrying about what-ifs?

I myself think it will be enough to only be upset if the these new rules, when released, are found to be harmful. I don't trust the government or "big business", but I think they would have a very hard time putting through something actually harmful.

Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

It wouldn't be surprising if in the end they actually put forth these new changes themselves. Which is exactly how the Federal Reserve Act was put in place. The BANKERS all complained, and it was supposed to wrestle the control of money out of the hands of the money masters, and so the public was all for it! We see how that worked out. Exactly the opposite, they gained more control than ever.

Don't know if you guys see the revolving doors currently between big Corps and Big Gov't but it's really hard to believe that what's in "our" best interests is getting put forth. It's just wool over our eyes...

Heh. I don't think there is any black in the picture. Gimp or Photoshop proves it.

I've seen both black-and-blue and white-and-gold versions of this dress in various photographs. Funny one isn't it.

And I'm really not sure that every internet phenomenon needs to be explained by some conspiracy theory.

You think the CIA came up with Ceiling Cat? Hmm. I think it was the time-stealers from outer space. They're on to us!

@baker - honestly, I hope you are right.

@what's the point in "what ifs"

Well, in this case, probably nothing but, there are other times where what if's may lead you to make moves to protect yourself.

            @Dutch

At this point I forgot this post was about a dress and I thought you were being "poetic" lol. I started thinking (for only a second) how do those colors relate to the entities involved?... Leave me alone, I seriously just woke up .

Took some time to see what exactly net neutrality may bring to the net

The Fairness Doctrine - mostly just annoying.
The Commerce Clause - kiss your tax free internet goodbye
Licensing - how many ads will solecord need to pay for this?
Decency - kiss your porn goodbye and be ready to pay fines for your foul mouth (you = whomever)

There is more, but is this not already too much? The internet up til now was Mad Max. Now it will be government regulated. OF COURSE it will be less free. If I am wrong, this will be the first time in the entire history of the United States that the government put it's hand in something and didn't regulate the shit out of it. Really, what are the chances of that? Zero. Zero is the chances.

Will all of this be effective immediately? Probably not but you can bet it's coming. To believe differently is to believe our government is perfectly satisfied with the amount of power and money it has, and has NO agenda. Pssssh, that's some serious blinders and completely opposite of history and reality. That's trusting the same government that eroded our freedoms due to one terrorist attack (patriot act.. you have to love these names, like a patriot would give up his freedoms) and mandates health care (affordable care act - which isn't affordable at all, not to mention that I am living proof we already had FREE health care. $35k stage 2 rectal prolapse surgery for $0. Fully paid by Sisters of Mercy Catholic charity, fulfilling the entire purpose of the charity. Not to mention that now these options no longer exist, after all, health care is mandatory. Good thing we were able to read the bill before the vote. Oh wait, that never happened. I see a pattern forming here.)

@entire world - votes were cast regarding the same internet you use and you didn't even get a vote or a representative. Pissed yet? Don't worry, we'll take your sales tax payment in whatever currency your country uses. Then we'll use that money to bomb you or install a Shah or something.

Am I wrong that, if the US has jurisdiction over the internet, it has jurisdiction over the world to some degree? I may be wrong. It was just some profound/stupid thought I just had.

As a Pagan, I'd have real issues having to accept health care as a "gift" from some Christian organisation. Because it's not actually a gift, most people will probably think better of Christianity after receiving it, so it's actually propaganda and missionaries.

Would you take health care money from Scientology and say "everything is fine"?

Health care shouldn't be provided by the crazy people, it should be provided by the state and financed with taxes or something.

The major issue your country has is that everyone curses at the ruling parties, but no one actually goes and votes for something else. It would be so easy. If everyone who's pissed off would get together and found a new party, or vote for the Greens or something, what do you think how many seats that party would get? Instead, you guys rail against "the government" as if living in a failed state where the strong make their own law would be a serious alternative. It's irrational really.

And I guess this thread is fully OT now. Well, go ahead.

                    FCC rules.

                    Apparently in very recent times:
                    1) Verizon has screwed with Google Wallet.
                    2) Comcast has screwed with HBO and previously Netflix.
                    (A couple of casual examples).

It looks like the broadband and cell phone networks actively use their near monopolies to harm competition in media, internet, search.

The document is 400 pages but most of it is explanations, commentary and citations. I looked through some of it and what I did see looked simply like rules disallowing harming competition.

I think that now that it is published, any scaremongers with legitimate scaremongering to do would be doing it now. Yet now that the rules are public, I only hear crickets chirping in the night.

Not that I have a "side" or anything, I just passionately dislike scaremongering citing no information.

A 3rd party in the United States mostly siphons off one of the other 2 parties.

                        Let's say there is
                        A) Blue Party, a major party
                        B) Red Party, a major party
                        C) Super Red Party, a little party

If you would normally vote for Red, but instead vote Super Red you make it much more likely that Blue Party wins instead.

So by voting for a 3rd party, you end up supporting the least desirable outcome.

So most people hate 3rd parties in the United States, call it "wasting your vote" (at best!).

And the 2 main parties have tons of machinery and laws behind them.

You say "it would be easy". Well, ...

with time we should be okay... (about our defunct Rep,Dem, & various fail ballot options).

With time I eventually seen both scenarios of white/gold and blue/black~The Dress (aka 'that fucking dress').

When it happened to me,I was absolutely positive I had found entirely different pics and it was pure shenanigans..... so I returned to Quakeone.com where I know I had been recalled having seen a blue/black version.I returned with haste to notice that, as if science was serenading my eyes, my blue/black experience with "the dress" at quakeone.com was now,in fact, fucking gold and white. TIME 2 BURN THE DRESS,THOUGH. cuz....

                          true story..
I avoided that Dress on Facebook the day prior to this post being made.My daughter was raving about how color blind a bunch of people was on Facebook, and sad but true the moment Facebook was mentioned I wanted nothing to do with the dress....

The day this post was made, "The Dress" also invaded my SciShow Youtube episode..... I provided everyone a link, I just am not sure if anyone clicked it and got the 411 on what's happening with that image.

I'm sure that with time, even the internet will be okay. Can the same be said for, say, the Quantum Internet of the future???

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nc9jPhEcJ8c]Quantum Internet - What the Frack Is It?! - YouTube[/ame]

Would "The Dress" be an even more sufferable conundrum of color on a quantum internet?

I bet it would be like when your playing CTF,and then you see a guy wearing colors 13 4 or 4 13.
