seems to me to compare more to the joker seen in "all star batman and robin", which was a prequel run to "the dark knight returns". on another note, its nice to see creators digging deep to create a fresher take on the character, as compared to more recent incarnations.
Yeah, I don't care for it. I think the tats are too obvious/blatant and attention-whoreish. I understand wanting to put your own stamp on the character or give it a fresh take, but this just doesn't work for me.
The issue is that Heath's incredible performance is still fresh in peoples' minds. It's too soon to release a new joker. Why not the Riddler? It's the perfect character for a well written diverse script (like the type Nolan creates) to fuck with Batman.
They need to wait longer before they bring out new guys in the same mold. The same thing is happening with Batman. They're scrambling to keep milking money off of it, so they bring out A lister Ben Affleck to replace Christian Bale, he's even doing the same crappy "dark gritty" voice which sounds like a rapist wacking off to child porn.
It's definitely too early for all of these characters using different actors, and they stand to be judged due to that.
Full steam ahead in my book, it's been 6 years since Dark Night. I personally hope Ben Affleck knocks it out of the park, clear into the bat-signal lit sky.
I kinda like this Joker version, he's very modern looking whereas older versions look like something from the Muppet Show.
I might watch a movie with this Joker in it. Unfortunately I think Batman is an old hat by now and I'm generally not such a fan of superheroes. They keep piling on the latex and trying to make him more gritty but I think a fundamental change is due soon.
A more punky version of the entire universe might be good.
